June 24th was dubbed Make A Terrible Comic Day<\/em> by pseudonym jones<\/a>.
Participation was simple: just make a comic!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your comic didn’t need to be funny or insightful. Nor did it need to be super refined or even interesting.
The goal was to just make something for the joy of it<\/strong>\u2014something that I believe is crucial and necessary for the health of one’s creative life\/practice. And unlike other hourly or monthly drawing challenges, you just needed to put together a few panels and that was it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I haven’t made a comic in what feels like years. I think the last time I can remember creating any kind of sequential art was during the pandemic and I was journaling some of my experiences and feelings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Make A Terrible Comic Day<\/em>, in typical Shirley Fashion I started out by overthinking things.
I had so many feelings swirling around within me, and I wanted to maybe try exorcising them through a comic. But I kept struggling with it and knew I was beginning to go against the spirit of the day.
So I let go of my expectations and went with something that simply summed up how I was feeling in that moment about everything:<\/p>\n\n\n
