September's pottery is now available!
Some pieces have already sold via early access on my Patreon page, but there are still some pieces available.
Unfortunately, the clear gloss glazed pieces this month ended up flawed as well. But, through some experimentation I learned that it wasn't my fault this time! The glaze itself was too thick and just needs a little water added to the mix, and then it should be back to normal.
It's a little disappointing (and at times frustrating), but I do enjoy these parts of the creative process. Learning about the "whys" helps you learn more about the medium itself.
This month, I wanted to practice making mug handles, and I definitely learned a little more about them! I also played around with some new underglazes that had some...interesting results LOL
I really love how the orange turned out with my Barn Swallow motif and will move forward with that colour combo.
However, I had a major surprise when I got back my Barn Swallow trinket dish! It was meant to be this deep, magenta colour (which you can kind of see pictured on the lower edge of the piece). I'm not sure what happened, but I'm guessing I didn't apply enough layers of underglaze so the piece turned out this lightish pink-purple instead LOL
Here's a look at all of the pieces—
