BLOG

One Year, Here

I started my blog a year ago because I missed the era of blogging, and social media platforms don’t really allow for long form thoughts which is a struggle for me as there are times when I have quite a lot to say about a topic!
Having a blog allows me to add more context behind my work, and gives me the freedom to speak as much as I want about a particular subject without feeling the need to mince words that could end up removing nuance or context just to fit it within a bluesky or instagram post. And it's a safe space for those times when I want to share something personal, but a social media platform doesn't really feel like the most appropriate space.

My blog also gives me another place to share about my work and post updates for people where I’m in full control of the platform. I never have to worry about things like algorithms, my post getting throttled because I mention my "shop", or my site getting destroyed by a person with only two brain cells to rub together and way too much money on their hands.

I love looking back through my archives and remembering all of the work that I’ve made in the past 365 days that I’ve shared here. Whenever I try doing that on social media, I end up feeling so unaccomplished like I haven’t done anything or done enough; and it also feels as though your work has the shelf life of an avocado on so many online platforms—it’s here and gone within the blink of an eye.

But here on my blog it feels like my passion; my work; the fruit from my heart has a home where it can live and always remain, forever.
