I think the last time I painted a wood slice painting was back in 2022??
Originally, I was going to do all ceramics, but some of my original ideas didn't work out so I pivoted to painting. It was an interesting experience to go from the loose and intuitive nature of my ceramic work to my paintings which require a lot more structure and control.

I've been so inspired by Bald Eagles lately after seeing one for the first time in-person on my summer trip last year.

I love this Magpie totem! I used a custom teal underglaze I mixed together and I love how vibrant it is.
Black-billed Magpies are a bird near and dear to my heart so I definitely wanted to make one for this show.
