Not Quite New Year

Hello, 2026!

Well, according to the Gregorian calendar anyway.
I much prefer seeing Spring Equinox as the herald of a new year.
It just doesn’t feel right for a new year to start smack dab in the middle of Winter.

Often, I feel like I have to rush the preparation to enter a new year within the two weeks before December ends. But that doesn’t feel like a lot of time to not only reflect on the previous year, but to also plant seeds and percolate on what I want the new year to be for me.

Last year, my mantra was this quote by Alfie Woodard:

"I don't care about other people in their small lives and small minds. I am just here to groove and be one with the celestial beat."

It worked really well for me in 2025, and I’m going to continue feeding the fire of my soul with that sentiment.

Building on that, I feel like 2026 for me will be a year where I continue cutting down on the “noise” I expose myself to on a regular daily basis.

I’m very concerned that our society is much more interested in information than wonder.
In noise, rather than silence…how do we encourage reflection? Oh my, this is a noisy world.
I get up every morning at least by 5AM. I have a couple hours of quiet time, reflect about what is important. What can we do, to encourage people to have more quiet in their lives, more silence?
Real revelation comes through silence.” -Fred Rogers

I want to continue creating and nurturing the space for ideas, wonder, revelations, chance, and serendipity.
I want space for my heart and spirit to feel alive and free.
And sometimes, silence (and maybe perhaps some solitude) is what is necessary to create that space.
