Design I love – Korea Edition

This is part 5/5 of my Korea posts!

I always have an eye for design and details, so I wanted to have a separate post sharing some of the design that caught my eye over in Korea. 🙂

There are a couple of decorated concrete path tiles from Jeju Island that may be considered NSFW, fyi!!
I marked the areas with headers!

A photo of a rainbow bridge

A photo of a mural along a part of the coast of Jeju Island featuring their horse lighthouses frolicking.

Photo of a cute cat mascot on the side of a building

A photo of a manhole cover found on Jeju Island featuring what appears to be a humanised character of the dol hareubang

POTENTIAL NSFW CONCRETE PATH TILES BELOW

art found on the sidewalk of jeju island portraying a nude man dancing on top of flowers

art found on the sidewalk of jeju island portraying a nude figure standing on top of a crab hoisting a fish over their head

NSFW TILES OVER

art found on the sidewalk of jeju island portraying two fish facing each other and what appears to be an apple or some kind of fruit in-between them

A very scary looking building???? I think it's supposed to be some kind of art experience/installation inside???

The Grimm Forest - a building found on Jeju Island that is done in a black and white cartoon style and it has a large, fearsome cartoon head on the top of the building.

A to-go cup of chai tea with a cartoon goose dressed up in a nice vest and hat on the side of the cup.

A photo of a mailbox found on Jeju Island. It's read with a stylistic bird done in white. It reads "Po'st"

A photo of an advertisement for delaffe x mrd.donothing. It portrays a white (not caucasian - they're literally white) hanging out on a pool chair with a seagull on their head.

This was a very cute blue bird themed cafe we hung out in to get out of the rain while we were in Seoul!

A photo of the cafe's blue bird mascot waving and saying "Hi!"

Photo of the little blue bird mascot as a sticker on the window where they appear to be resting on the window ledge.

A cup of matcha green tea latte in a mug with a cute little blue bird on it, and a similar blue bird macaron

This was the base of the light poles on the outside of Changgyeonggung Palace. Definitely one of my favourite pieces of design I saw in Korea.

Photo of a gorgeous dragon design on the bottom of a lamp post

I forgot to add this to my post involving the National Museum of Korea, but this was a little handmade ceramic Seoksu I bought in the gift shop! The Seoksu is a protective stone animal-like beast that is often placed at or within a tomb. They had a variety of colours, but I fell in love with this turquoise one. 🙂
