9 Queer Artists & Makers for PRIDE Month

June is the month of PRIDE and instead of supporting mega corporations who are simply trying to make a dollar off of a movement and marginalised group they could care less about, how about sharing some financial support to actual queer artists?

Here's my list of 9 Queer artists and makers I recommend checking out! 🌈✨


Abelle Hayford/Kojo Jojo Studios

Abelle Hayford is a Ghanaian-American illustrator, character designer, and color stylist. Abelle's current body of work consists of diverse characters and narratives, good vibes, and a lot of pastel colors. Their past clients include Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney TVA, New York Times, Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, and The New Yorker.

Kojo Jojo Studios is their latest endeavor allowing them to branch out into product design and risograph printing services.

Aspen Eyes

Aspen is a Black queer artist. Their journey spans the US, but it began in Minnesota and has now led them to the Florida Panhandle. Aspen’s creative vision is shaped by the natural and supernatural, seeking to depict the liminal through animal form.

Averted Visionary

Averted Visionary aka Mikael Starks creates art that is body positive, diverse, inclusive, and inspired by his struggles with mental health. He is a zinester, freelance artist, and small business owner currently based in central California.

Bree Lundberg

Bree Lundberg is an illustrator inspired by all-things-cute. She enjoys creating character-driven art and products that add a little more humor or positivity into the world.

Bree grew up in sunny Florida and is an alumna of Ringling College of Art and Design. After graduating, they moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area and spent six years as an in-house artist and designer at American Greetings Creative Studios. Since 2018, Bree has been freelancing full-time from her home studio as well as designing their own brand of cute products.

Chicago Queer Creations

Chicago Queer Creations is owned and operated by Leo, who started as a self taught embroidery and acrylic artist and has now dived right into the world of ceramics. Each piece is hand-built or wheel thrown, glazed all by Leo out of their workshop located in Chicago, IL.

Kevin Jay Stanton

Kevin Jay Stanton is a freelance illustrator with a green thumb and an obsession with symbolism. He spent his childhood playing a healthy dose of video games, as well as reading a ton of fairytales, mythology, and books on nature. Nowadays he does basically the same thing, but draws them too.

Mushroomy x Washi Station

Mushroomy PRIDE collection mascot that is a cream coloured creature that resembles a dog. They're holding a paintbrush as big as their body that has rainbow coloured paint on it.

Mushroomy is a united storefront for artists by artists. Their goal is to make selling art easier, and buying art better.

The Washi Station was created by Aviva Maï Artzy in collaboration with a wide variety of artists where they offer several themed washi tape collections throughout the year.

nissa arts

Nissa Arts is owned and operated by Nissa Wallace based in BC, Canada where she shares her pottery and art.
She has dabbled in lots of different mediums, including embroidery, drawing, painting, and knitting. She fell in love with pottery in the beginning (ish) of the pandemic and hasn’t looked back.

Nora Reed Jewelry
